Guiyang is an important transportation hub and one of the regional trade and logistics centers connecting the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta in southwest China, one of the railway hubs in the southwest region, and one of the highway aviation and transportation hubs in the southwest region. Sichuan-Guizhou, Hunan-Guizhou, Guizhou-Guangxi, Guikun four railways form the southwest railway cross in Guiyang. Guiyang-Guangzhou, Changkun, Chongqing-Guizhou, Chenggui, Guinan and other high-speed railway passenger dedicated lines have been completed one after another. During the 12th five-year Plan period, the throughput of passengers reached 53.08 million, the number of flight movements was 482000, and the throughput of cargo and postal services was 394000 tons.

Aviation

There is one international airport in Guiyang: Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport. The airport is located in the eastern suburb of Guiyang City, 11 kilometers away from the city center. At the end of 2007, Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport was upgraded from 4D to 4E.

In 2018, the number of navigation points of Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport reached 118, an increase of 16 urban areas over the previous year. Among them, there are 16 international navigation points and 3 international navigation areas. In 2001, the number of passengers transported by various modes of transport was 825.34 million, an increase of 12.5 percent over the previous year, and the volume of goods transported was 554.46 million tons, an increase of 16.0 percent over the previous year.

Railway

Guiyang South Railway Station is the second largest railway marshalling yard in China. Sichuan-Guizhou, Hunan-Guizhou, Guizhou-Kunming, Guizhou-Guangxi and Nanning-Kunming railways meet. Guiyang North Railway Station is one of the super-large railway hubs in China, which was opened on December 26, 2014.

Water transportation

Guiyang has three wharves of Luowang River and Longshui in Kaiyang Port. Luowang River is two 500t cargo berths and Longshui is a 500t passenger berth. Xifeng Port is invested by enterprises to build a wharf with a designed annual freight capacity of 500000 tons.

Highway

As of 2013, there are 6 expressways open to traffic in Guiyang, 289.639 kilometers. There are 8 exit highways and National highways 321 and 210 pass through Guiyang. With Guiyang as the center, the national highway and expressway extend radiantly to various prefectures, cities and states in the province. The traffic mileage of the highway reaches more than 1800 kilometers, and the highway density ranks first in the province.

Orbit

On August 24, 2015, the Guiyang Municipal Government approved the Urban Rail Transit Network Planning (revision) of Guiyang City. According to the plan, Guiyang urban rail transit line consists of 9 lines. On the basis of the original line network planning (Line 1 ~ 4), four S lines (city express lines) and one north-south G1 line running through Gui'an New area are added. The total scale of the line network is 466.9 km, with a total of 258 stations.

Public transportation

According to the information of June 2017, Guiyang Public Transport (Group) Company has 3239 operating vehicles, 159 urban and suburban lines, operating mileage of 231 million km, annual passenger volume of 609 million passengers, and total operating income of 621 million yuan.

By 2016, the total length of roads in Guiyang has reached 1306 km, with a road area of 26.43 million square meters and 345 bridges, including 26 overpasses. There are 3265 bus operating vehicles, equivalent to 3971 standard operating vehicles, with a total length of 4721 km and a total of 619.94 million passenger trips. There are 8904 city taxis.

In January 2017, the first BRT bus rapid transit in Guizhou Province was opened, with a total length of 29 kilometers, Guiyang North Station and future Ark spur line. In 2018, nine feeder lines BRT will be opened in combination with the Central main Line BRT system.
